Music of Baden Powell and Pagode In the 1960s, the Brazilian guitarist and composer Baden Powell, in collaboration with the poet Vinicius de Moraes, became captivated by the myths of the African diasporic religion known as Candomblé. After working closely together, Vinicius defined that their compositions were imbued with African influences – religion, myth, and rhythm – which they seamlessly integrated into the renowned Brazilian Samba, their musical origin. They unveiled their groundbreaking album, "Afro Samba," in 1966.

In the first half of this concert, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the music that profoundly connects literature, myth, and religion, all masterfully crafted by the legendary Baden Powell.

During the latter half of this concert, you will be treated to timeless Brazilian classics, encompassing Samba and Pagode music. Prepare to experience the sheer passion of Samba.
